Watching the snow fall, steady, peaceful and thick, made me happy to be at home. Home, where I'm surrounded by love, warmth and doggies. It got me thinking about starting a new blog for the ramblings that sometimes (all the time) happen in my twenty-something brain. Mostly revolving around Annapolis and my life here, I figured From Annapolis, With Love would be a fitting and appropriate name for such an outlet.
The last time I can remember snow like this was winter of 1996. We had a four-foot snow drift on our back deck, with two little doggie-sized holes leading to the backyard. School was canceled for a week and we spent every single minute playing outside. Snowmen, snowforts, snowballs .. everything.
Last year we had a "snowstorm" that left us with five or six inches of snow. Just enough for me to call out of of work for the day but not enough to keep me (and my camera) inside. Sorry, boss. It was enough to make me remember how much I really love and really miss the snow.
Last night, as I snuggled on the couch, wrapped in blankets and woodstove heat, our yard stick stuck in the snow on the deck read almost twenty-three inches. Twenty-three inches. Now that's some snow. Well, snow for around here. Other parts of the country routinly see five and six feet in a day. I would love to be there, surrounded in snow, but here I am. And I am loving all (almost) twenty-three inches.
